My illusions shatter as her heart breaks, sending blood red shards of my soul scattering around the room. I bend down to pick them up, but tears fall in a steady rain, flooding the room as I wipe the salt-tinged water from my eyes.
She stands like a statue, her eyes bleeding those salty drops. I wade through the ocean, still trying to gather the shards of my soul. I swim, hoping and praying that I will be able to survive another day.
I gather the final piece and puzzle them together. The rain stops and the sun shines from her face. Confused, I look down into my hands and I find that instead of my soul, I found her heart.
