Writing: Moment in Time - Empress

She sits on her crystal throne, hair gently cascading down her pale shoulders. They all admire her and offer her praise, both of which she accepts at face value. Her face lights up after each sugar sweet comment, lapping their adulation like a kitten would warm milk.

She sees one who doesn't do as the others. He intrigues her, even though she would never admit it. She watches with veiled eyes as he watches with amused eyes the hordes of admirers.

She doesn't need him to accept her, she thinks. Her vapid smile betrays her; her eyes following suit, watching him endlessly. He watches her now, eyes no longer amused. She see what he was saying the whole time in that simple glance.
She stands from her throne and listens to it shatter behind her. She walks towards him, listening as the voices grow quiet and fade away. It was him all along that she wanted to hear. She ignores the party and the music around her and asks him if he would like to get a coffee.

He smiles, "I was about to ask you the same thing."
